HomeMag

HomeMag is the internal customer-relationship management (CRM) application operated by Bakersfield Home Magazine. We use it to run our print advertising business — managing advertisers, scheduling ads across our bimonthly print editions (Bakersfield, Fresno, and the Central Coast), generating contracts, billing customers, and communicating with the advertisers our sales team works with.

HomeMag is used only by authorized Bakersfield Home Magazine staff and partner accounts. It is not offered to the public.

What this app does

HomeMag is the internal application our sales, account-management, and operations teams use to run Bakersfield Home Magazine's advertising business. The app:

  • Manages advertiser records, contacts, and the sales pipeline.
  • Schedules ads across our bimonthly print editions (Bakersfield, Fresno, Central Coast) and tracks placement, proofs, and artist hand-offs.
  • Generates contracts, captures e-signatures, and processes advertiser payments via Stripe and NMI.
  • Integrates with QuickBooks Online to post customers, invoices, and payments for accounting reconciliation.
  • Integrates with Gmail so customer email exchanges become visible on the matching advertiser's timeline (a Copper-style team-visibility model). Outbound messages composed inside the CRM are sent on the connected user's behalf.
  • Integrates with Convirza for call tracking against advertiser campaigns.

The CRM is intended for use by authorized Bakersfield Home Magazine staff and partner accounts. It is not a general-purpose product and is not offered to the public.

Why HomeMag requests Google account access

When a staff user signs in with Google or connects their Gmail account, HomeMag requests the following OAuth scopes. Each is requested only for the specific, narrow purpose described below. Full handling details are in our Privacy Policy.

  • openid email profile — used only to sign the staff user into HomeMag (we read their Google email + name to create or match a HomeMag account).
  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly — read-only access to the connected user's Gmail. HomeMag uses this to import messages exchanged with the user's advertiser contacts and attach them to the matching advertiser's timeline (the same model as Copper or HubSpot). We only sync messages where the sender or recipient is a known advertiser contact; we do not read unrelated mail.
  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send — permission to send messages on the user's behalf. Used only when a staff user explicitly composes and sends a message inside HomeMag (e.g. a signed-contract email or a bulk advertising outreach). Each send is initiated by a user action; HomeMag never sends autonomously.

Gmail tokens are encrypted at rest. HomeMag does not share Gmail data with third parties, does not use it for advertising or marketing, and does not retain message bodies outside the advertiser-association use case described above.
